Senior Release Manager - Digital Banking
You, as our Senior Release Manager, are responsible to plan IT releases, to schedule solution release, to manage infrastructure configuration, to determine production readiness, to support teams and to govern releases


Your mission:
  • Plan IT release schedule
    • Define strategies for scheduling releases, including release trains, release streams, ad-hoc releases, and release windows.
    • Plan and communicate overall release schedule. That means blackout periods (e.g. Christmas holidays), technical dependencies, dependencies of Clients, Modules and Components have to be identified.

  • Schedule solution release
    • Schedule releases of individual teams, so that it does not conflict with the releases of other teams who want to deploy into the same operational environment.
    • Forecast demand for release resources and identify opportunities for greater efficiency across the enterprise

  • Manage infrastructure configuration
    • Work closely with the Operations Teams to understand the complex operational infrastructure, etc.

  • Determine production readiness
    • Verify if the solution is ready to be deployed and that the stakeholders are ready to have it deployed to them
    • Create common standards and formats for release playbooks and work with production control to standardize release decision-making.

  • Support teams
    • Work closely with the teams to help them deploy successfully. This help may take the form of coaching the team on deployment techniques, on planning, and even working with them to automate their deployments.

  • Govern releases
    • Govern your organization’s overall release efforts, ideally with the aim to streamline those efforts as much as possible. This governance will include the development of policies and guidelines pertaining to the release process as well as the identification and collection of pertinent metrics.
    • Inform senior management of enterprise-wide exposure to release risk and effectively mitigate it.

  • Team support
    • Release Manager is closely working together with the Program Manager on Operation Level but also on Program/Strategic Level.
    • On the Program/Strategic Level the Product Roadmap Inputs are in the Responsibility of Product Management and the Project Roadmap Inputs in the Responsibility of Project Management


    Your background:
    • Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline preferred
    • Proven track record and 3 – 5 years experience as a Release Manager
    • Minimum 5-7 years experience in system- or/and software engineering environment
    • Experience with continuous Integration/Delivery
    • Familiar with Release Manager Role in Agile Frameworks
    • Good knowledge of the banking industry is an advantage
    • Strong leadership skills with an agile mindset and a high level of customer orientation
    • Experience in intercultural and international project management
    • Aware of business priorities and risks as they impact overall project plans
    • Ability to set clear priorities depending on product readiness and customer requirements
    • Ability to define clear processes and standards and to implement them in the organization
    • Quick comprehension as well as a structured and analytical way of working
    • Positive and dedicated personality with strong problem-solving skills and result orientation
    • Strong communication, change facilitation and stakeholder management skills
    • Responsible personality who can build a good standing in the organisation
    • Excellent time management, decision-making and organization skills
    • Fluent in German and English
